The Bellator Welterweight Tourny is looking pretty sweet

Fightlinker is kinda notorious for its lack of Bellator coverage, but maybe now that a few more “writers” are on hand, Winnebago Boy’s promotion will get a little more love (and hate).  The Welterweight Tournament has shaped up nicely, with some serious known and relatively unknown talent vying for a shot at Ben Askren’s belt.

The officially rumored matchups are:

Rick Hawn (9-0) vs. “Judo” Jim Wallhead (20-5)
Jay Hieron (19-4) vs. Steve Carl (14-2)
Dan Hornbuckle (22-3) vs. Brent Weedman (17-5-1)
Lyman Good (10-1) vs. Chris Lozano (6-0)

Does Lyman Good still have what it takes to compete?  He was out of competition for almost a year and a half after ripping his entire chest muscle off the bone before he lost his title to Season 2 Tourny winner Ben Askren back in October of last year.  How much his injury/layoff played into his utterly dominating loss to the Perma-Sloth remains to be seen.

The tournament is slated to kick off with Bellator 35, airing on MTV2 on March 5th.
