On Tuesday, Strikeforce refugee-turned-UFC fighter and former member of the G.I. Joe Team (codename: Cuddle Berry) Tim Kennedy blasted the UFC by saying the organization pays its fighters so little that professional collectors of trash make a better living. Well, today Kennedy is singing a different tune.
“My comments were foolish, hurtful, and inappropriate. I accept full responsibility for the statements and apologize to the UFC, Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta, and Joe Silva as well as anyone I might have offended with my comments. Fighting for the UFC is an honor and a privilege. I look forward to putting this situation behind me and focusing on my upcoming fight with Roger Gracie [at UFC 162].”
In other words, Kennedy was just kidding about the whole UFC pay thing, Tuesday was opposite day, no backsies, he loves his job and the idea that he could make locker room bonuses, and please, Mr. Fertitta, don’t kill his cat, which is being held hostage in a storage unit on the outskirts of Reno.
Of course, it should go without saying that speaking ill of your employer before your first day on the job is a bit unwise. Dare I say it’s… dumb?
