When you say someone was once a champ in the WEC, it lends a little credence to their ass-kicking ability. Like, "Oh, he was a WEC champ? Yeah, he knows how to fight." But when it came to Mike Brown vs. Steven Siler, which pitted a dude who beat Urijah Faber twice against someone who looks like he should be delivering your pizza, the former WEC title holder lasted all of 50 seconds before he needed his life saved by the referee. If you’re like me, you went into UFC Fight Night 26 last night expecting Chael Sonnen to lay on top of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for 25 minutes, Alistair Overeem to eat some poor dude’s soul, and Joe Lauzon to do what Joe Lauzon does. Also, if you’re like me, stop biting my style. That’s so desperate. Everyone thinks you’re so desperate.
Anyway, UFC Fight Night 26 was full of surprises. Here are the top five that made me say “WTF?” (Because in real life I actually talk in acronyms – OMG, right?)
