Looks like Gina Carano is starting the press circuit for her May 31st fight on CBS, and our friend Ariel from MMA Rated sets the pace, asking the question I’m sure everyone is going to be asking her over and over for the next month and a half: “Are you fucking nuts trying to film American Gladiators and train for a fight at the same time?”
The interview reveals that filming for the new season of American Gladiators has started and it’s going to last right up until two weeks before her bout with Kaitlin Young. It’s too bad they didn’t go into details on how that breaks up her training as compared to a regular fight. Perhaps American Gladiator episodes are done over the course of one day twice a week, so in effect these are her ‘rest days’? Anyways, I don’t expect people to get sick of asking Gina over and over if she realizes how risky it is to go into a fight with so much on her plate.
For EliteXC, the whole situation is win-win … a loss on Gina’s record isn’t about to stop her from being the star she’s become since landing the Gladiators gig. On the flipside, Kaitlin Young is young, hot, and knocks people the fuck out. A win for Young might actually be really good for the EliteXC female’s division … the sooner they get away from the division being a feeder system for setting up Gina fights, the better.
