I would’ve posted the lines for tonight’s fight earlier, but I’ve been distracted by the devil’s poison the past few days, as you should have been if you’re not a terrorist.
Despite the fact that UFC 108: Cursed By Gypsies may be one of the weaker cards the world’s top MMA organization has ever put on, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun by gambling your kid’s college fun on the outcomes of the fights. Here are the betting lines for the main card, courtesy of BetUS.com, with the lines for the undercard and, as always, my half-assed analysis after the jump.
Rashad Evans -210 vs. Thiago Silva +165
Dustin Hazelett -135 vs. Paul Daley +105
Junior Dos Santos -350 vs. Gilbert Yvel +250
Jim Miller -500 vs. Duane Ludwig +350
Joe Lauzon -300 vs. Sam Stout +220
Cole Miller -160 vs. Dan Lauzon +130
Martin Kampmann -280 vs. Jacob Volkman +210
Mark Munoz -375 vs. Ryan Jensen +275
Jake Ellenberger -140 vs. Mike Pyle +110
Rafaello Oliveira -180 vs. John Gunderson +150
Solid Underdog Bet: Paul Daley. Hazelett would beat Daley 10 times out of 10 in a jiu-jitsu match, but this is MMA. It’s no secret that Daley has a serious advantage on the feet. On top of that, while I think the fight will end up on the floor at some point, I think Hazelett is going to have a tough time getting the fight there. Daley could very well cement his spot as a contender tonight at the expense of McLovin’s orbital bones.
Guaranteed Money: Jim Miller. At -500, the reward might not be worth the chance of an upset, but the disparity between Miller’s ground skills and Ludwig’s is so big that the result of this one is practically a foregone conclusion.
Too Close To Call: Evans/Silva and Dos Santos/Yvel. “Sugar” and “Cigano” are the rightful favorites in each bout, but when you combine the fact that each fight is of huge importance to the participants and that each of the four combatants has the ability to end a fight in the blink of an eye, neither bout is a sound financial investment.
