There can’t be enough said about how truly amazing Barboza’s kick was. The fact that Etim looked like his brain shat itself before he hit the ground was icing on the cake.
Despite the cagegrab this may have been a career defining victory for Aldo. He entered the fight a champion but when he ran into the crowd and started a mini riot he may have transcended into a demigod/supreme being to his countrymen.
It was a true mma moment, I clapped so hard my gf had to remind me I was not Brazilian.

I was at work and my boss decided to rent it at a slight cost of 950$ for the PPV. A cheesy MMA gym was opening in the area and 50+ people descended on us for their opening party. I watched the first 2 rounds of the etim barboza fight and was sure i was gonna watch it to a decision. Then I heard 100 people scream TABBAAAAARNAKKKKK (equivalent of holy shit in french). half the people there were watching UFC (mma) for the first time. That kick kicked off an amazing main card and made so many girls/guys/old men/ boxing fans into new mma fans. I spent the rest of the evening educating people and I enjoyed it. I was sporting to cockfighting shirt too.

Silva got robbed. There where a couple to the back of the head but that tends to happen when people turtle like that. The shots that did land to the back of the head were not the ones that ended the fight. Joe did acknowledge the hits that landed to the back of the head, it was Silva that said they ALL landed clean.
I think there is a bigger problem in what to do when a fighter hangs on to the cage and prevents a takedown. I see that as a major point of contention. A hugely unfair loss of position and stamina. It takes a lot of energy to go for a takedown just to have someone hang on as bad as Aldo did.
All in all, great night of fights. Gotta feel bad for anyone heading into Brazil to face a Brazilian. They get their fighters amped up. Canada seems to get their fighters anxious.
