UFC 89 gets on Spike

Okay, so good news and bad news. The good news is that UFC 89 will be shown on SpikeTV for free – that was Dana White’s special announcement, by the way. The bad news is that Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote won’t be on the menu for that evening. Instead, the UFC has decided to push that fight forward onto UFC 90 in Chicago.

So here’s the lineups as they’re rumored to stand, courtesy of MMA Junkie:

UFC 89
* Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben
* Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva
* Keith Jardine vs. Brandon Vera
* Luiz Cane vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
* Akihiro Gono vs. Dan Hardy
* Shane Carwin vs. Neil Wain
* Marcus Davis vs. Paul Kelly
* Terry Etim vs. Sam Stout
* Chris Lylte vs. Paul Taylor
* David Bielkheden vs. Jess Liaudin
* Per Eklund vs. Sammy Schiavo

UFC 90
* Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Cote (for UFC middleweight title)
* Thiago Alves vs. Diego Sanchez

While the UK once again takes it up the ass with no title fight, the card is pretty solid. Bisping vs Leben should be an entertaining and even battle. I’m eager to see if Silva’s aggression can take out Machida. Then you got Cane vs Sok, Gono vs Hardy, and Shane Carwin’s second UFC fight. I’d get excited for Jardine vs Vera but I’ve decided I hate them both until they prove they’re not boring any more (and no, Jardine, getting whupped in exciting fashion doesn’t count).
