Before his MMA career, Davis was a four-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at Penn State — only the fourth in the school’s 100+ years of intercollegiate wrestling. The native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, finished his collegiate career with a 116-20 record, two Big Ten titles (in 2006 and 2008), and a national title at 197 pounds in 2008.
So yeah, that’s apparently really good. I have no idea exactly how good because no one ever bothers to put that shit in context. You can barely throw a rock in MMA without hitting a guy with NCAA creds, but Division 1 is a big deal and being champ is even bigger.
As far as his MMA experience goes, he’s 4-0 and trains with the Lionheart camp alongside Paul ‘I had Herpes on TUF’ Bradley. While you’d think that would make him the ideal candidate to sponsor some anti-bacterial soap or something, Lionheart set him up with a different kind of sponsor:
Based out of Harrisburg, Dirty Dog Hauling™ Junk Removal Services is a professional company that specializes in removal of junk from homes, apartments, businesses, and construction sites.
The company has acquired the rights to use LionHeart fighter and Harrisburg native Phil Davis as their official spokesperson for the company’s print and TV advertising — “Don’t wrestle with your Trash, Call the Experts at Dirty Dog Hauling”.
Hey, it’s better than Hoelzer Reich.
