What’s up with Evan Tanner???

At this point, I’m pretty confused as to what’s up with Evan Tanner. On Thursday he made that post about blowing the last of his money on blackjack, and now I’m hearing stories about a follow up blog that says he can’t afford to train. Of course, I can’t verify that because a few hours later, his entire blog was yanked and is now gone. Here’s a post from MMA Mania about the last entry (which has since been removed from MMA Mania as well):

Today he has a post up called, “The $150,000 Heartbreaker” that says he lost $150,000 at the tables in six days and will now be unable to afford training for his upcoming fight. He also has a picture up of a Land Cruiser that he says he had to “say goodbye” to. The only problem is that’s not his Land Cruiser — he owns a beat-up relic.

Hopefully, this is all some shenanigans in an attempt to “punk” those who took exception with his decision to gamble in the first place.

A few people in a few forums are saying this is some kind of troll job, but you’re always going to hear people talking out their asses about shit they don’t know on forums. As for what’s really going on, I have no fucking idea. All I know is that some people think this is all just a big joke from Tanner. Some people even thought we here at Fightlinker were somehow involved. There’s always the possibility that the last few gambling posts were done by someone else who hacked into Tanner’s blog. There’s several suspicious things about all this, but the big warning sign for me is the blog being taken down entirely. That just doesn’t fit with the ‘troll’ or ‘joke’ angle.

All in all I’m hoping that’s the case because when I read the original MMA Mania post about Evan not being able to train I felt pretty damned depressed about it.

Hope this doesn’t end in tragedy for Tanner.

And speaking of mysteries, what happened to the Karo article? It showed up in my RSS feed before and now it’s gone.

was supposed to go up at 2pm today instead of 2pm yesterday. It’ll be back

I read that last Tanner post before it was pulled. He wrote some stuff about having to sell his Land Cruiser and that he’ll have to get a minimum wage job because he doesn’t have any money or the skills to do anything else…and then you scroll down about 20 lines and he’s basically like “psyche!” and chastises the MMA blogosphere for taking the gambling post so seriously. As he says, he really just gambled $300 away (which was all he brought to the casino) and really wouldn’t have been able to pay off any debts with it anyway. He was basically downplaying the entire situation and acting like he (unintentionally?) made things seem a lot more dramatic than they really were. It was definitely bizarre…but I think people got confused when they didn’t read the entire post. But he’s definitely still on the Fightlinker cat-food diet…

Maybe his web designer is punishing him for not paying her bills.

I totally ate a tuna fish sandwich after reading his blog entry. Honestly, I ate 2. Tuna from the can(drained), mayo, salt & pepper, on white. The first one kicked ass, but the second sandwich over did it. But hey, I had half a can left and there’s no way I’m letting that stinky shit sit it my fridge.
It’s been decades since I’ve had a tuna fish sandwich. Thank you, Evan, for for bringing me back to my childhood.

  • Matt (but I signed up as Mr. Unbelievable Pants)

If I had to subsist on tunafish sandwhiches for the rest of my life, I think I’d be a happy man. Like hbdale309 says, tuna, mayo, salt and pepper (I like some cucumber and maybe some corn in there too) and WHAM! super-delicious sandwhich coming directly from my hand to my face hole!

The fool saw the backlash and tried to play it off. Too bad, he done fucked up now. No point in putting the cat back in.

  • RL Dookiefuck is RIGHT!

Hmm yes maybe it’s all a big joke. Maybe Tanner’s series of life failures is really just a way to screw with MMA blogs. Perhaps.

“Hope this doesn’t end in tragedy for Tanner.”

At least he doesn’t have money to buy booze.
