The UFC drought of 2012 is almost over! Also known as MMA Spring Break, this has been the steroidiest period of time I can remember since I started making fart jokes about the sport 5+ years ago. It’s not just the failed tests and hearings. MMA fans are starting to look at TUE exemptions like the 99% look at inequality graphs … something seems seriously wrong with the system and it’s only going to get uglier before it gets better.
Fortunately, we can get back to burying our heads in the sand by concerning ourselves with regular doses of UFC programming, starting up again this Saturday with UFC on FUEL 2 and continuing the week after with UFC 145. There’s growing excitement over FUEL headliner Alexander Gustafsson, with some wondering if he’s the Swedish Jon Jones. And of course you don’t need me to say anything about the Jon Jones vs Rashad Evans fight. At this point I’m just hoping one of those dudes doesn’t get struck by lightning in the next two weeks.
